Genuine ?

I guess this word has lost its meaning when social media invaded our daily lives. It is like everyone is trying so hard to be unique in order to meet the " about me " section they filled with superlatives about their oh so ordinary selves.

Those few lines of poetry you put up as Facebook statuses do not make you come out as the intellect you want others to see you as . In a real conversation, there is no Google to cover up your pretentious behind!

Posting a few songs of certain esteemed artists does not mean
you appreciate good music. There is no shame in listening to Beiber! Just admit that you find those who listen to Marcel Khalifeh , Omaima,Naseer Shamma etc. to be hip and cool!

If you own an iPhone and have your statuses\tweets labelled via iPhone and post about new OS and god knows what does not add up to tech savvy or enterprenuer in my book! There is no shame in playing Angry Birds just don't pretend you're something you're not! I for one use it to cheat off medications during my ward rounds!

And for crying out loud ,it takes more than Facebook or twitter to bring back Palestine ,End famine in Africa or stop human trafficking. Social media is a good tool to bring awareness about such noble causes just don't take yourself too seriously and pretend that you're better than everybody else just because you posted a few links about the revolution or poked some official and he mentioned it in a press conference!

You should bring out something in you and people should like you for it ,it doesn't go the other way around. Selling people what they like and having them as your friends is not exactly real. It is hollow and meaningless. You are not a poet, not an artist, not an enterprenuer ,whatever that is, you are just a sad soul with an internet connection looking for acceptance in barren cyber space!
